DonorshipDonorship allows an individual to give the highly personal and unique gifts of blood, marrow, tissue and organs. You are encouraged to become a donor of all types to help patients who need them. For many people, your donation will give them their only chance for recovery or survival.
April is Donate Life Month
BloodCenter of Wisconsin and its Wisconsin Donor Network and Wisconsin Tissue Bank are again recognizing April as National Donate Life Month. It’s a time for celebrating donors who have saved lives, and for encouraging new donors to make a life-saving difference. Informational events will be held all month to raise awareness for blood, marrow, organ, tissue/eye donation. To find out more about the importance of donation and how your decision can vastly improve or save a life, visit our Marrow, Organ and Tissue pages.
Marrow Donation Every day, thousands of patients with leukemia, sickle cell disease and other life-threatening disorders search for a marrow donor who can make their transplant possible. Find out how you can help.
Organ and Tissue Donation Over 111,000 people across the United States are on a waiting list for organ transplants, including those who need a kidney, liver, pancreas, heart or lung transplant. Every 11 minutes, another person is added to the waiting list. Find out how joining the registry can impact lives.
If everyone who could donate did so, the waiting list for transplants would be greatly reduced. Learn more about how to register and share your decision with your family. |
